How Often Should I Clean My Keyboard

Germs on Surfaces

If you want to keep from getting sick one of the best ways is to wash your hands frequently. Also, keep the surfaces that you touch frequently clean and free from germs. Your telephone, cell phone and computer keyboard are surfaces you should clean every day if possible.

Research shows that bacteria thrive on computer keyboards. In one study, keyboards had 52 times more bacteria than doorknobs. These microbes can survive as long as 24 hours.

Experts recommend two simple ways to fight back:

Expanded Child Tax Credit 2011

What Tax Deductions Are There for Children in College

Our paper had a really good article on the expanded child tax credit 2011. So here is a quick summary:

Who is a dependent and how much can you deduct:

For each dependent child, you can take a $3,650 personal exemption. The more children, the more exemptions you can take. Each personal exemption serves to reduce your income.

Children under age 19 can be claimed as dependents; those under 24 if they are full-time students. Children 24 or older who are full-time students can be claimed provided their income is less than $,3650. Age limits do not apply to disabled children.

How to Organize a Junk Drawer

Organized Junk Drawer

Here is great article I found about coming to terms with your junk drawer. The solution is to re-purpose your junk drawer as this author called it “the handy drawer.”

I really like this idea as usually your junk drawer is in a prime place in your home. A prime place is a storage area you can easily reach. Secondary places are ones that take some getting to. In other words, a secondary storage place is a place you may have to get on a step stool to get to or get up from your desk and move to another part of the room to get to that space.

How to Unclutter Your Life

Minimalist Fashion Blog

I have posted many articles on getting organized and paring down. I came across an interesting article in our local paper which talked about the “100 Thing Challenge” and it kind of made me look at my own life and how many things I had. I want to recap some of the article here in this post mostly just to give food for thought. I don’t think I could do the “100 Thing Challenge” which entails getting your clothes, books, shoes etc. down to 100 things but it made me realize how far past I am the “100″ mark in terms of possessions. If that sounds vague read on to find out what was so thought provoking about the “100 things.”
