Part Time Jobs for Teenagers

Good Jobs for Teenagers

Are there cool jobs for teenagers? Teenagers face some unique problems in finding employment: they may not have transportation, they may not be old enough or they may not have a schedule that fits the job. So many teens get frustrated in their search. Many of them get easily bored working a fast food restaurant or drug store which is where so many of them wind up. With a little creative thinking though and some focus on what they like to do, cool jobs for teenagers becomes a reality.

Benefits of Family Meals

Family Eating Dinner Together

Family in kitchen.

We know we should eat together as a family but it is so difficult to find the time. Is it so important? What are the benefits of family meals? Studies have shown that children who regularly interact with their parents around the dinner table have larger vocabularies, make better grades in school and are less likely to experiment with drugs or premarital sex.

Even though it seems our kids are only interested in what their peers have to say child development experts agree that, even during the teen years, the voice kids most want to hear is that of their parents. One of the benefits of family meals are that they are a great way to foster parent/child communication.

Immunizations for Children

Immunization Information

There was a good article in Parade Magazine regarding immunizations for children. The article warned that children between the teen and “tween” years tend to fall off the radar of the health care system since they usually only visit a doctor when they are sick. Plus with so many people losing their health insurance these days kids are even less likely to see their family doctor.

According to the Center for Disease Control the shots adolescents are most likely to miss out on are:

Tdap – for tetanus and diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough) – Recommended for 11 and 12 year olds
