How Do I Know If I am Pregnant?
You may be shocked at this article, but from my research - a very common search on the internet is - How Do I Know If I Am Pregnant - and so I thought since this is a women’s blog, I should provide a little help.
I have been pregnant, and I have to say that I KNEW I was the second time - I could feel subtle signs before I missed a period. However, the first time I missed those signs. Here are common signs of pregnancy. Of course, this all should be verified with a doctor - but here goes -
1. Missed Period - This may seem like a big, “oh duh” …. but many women don’t have regular periods, or may miss periods because of activity or stress or other illness, so this isn’t always an obvious sign of pregnancy. On the other hand, some women will have spotting during a pregnancy. Still, a missed period deserves the number 1 spot.
2. Breasts that are tender or swollen - for me this was a sign I was pregnant even before I knew I missed a period. Again, I noticed it on the second go-round, and missed it on the first.
3. Nausea - Big One - but doesn’t hit everybody the same, and could also be a sign of something else - i.e. a virus, food poisoning, stress etc…
4. Fatigue, Mood Swings, etc…. You may feel a change in your energy levels and mood balance, but again, the signs may be rather subtle, and could be caused by an illness or stress.
5. Frequent Urination - I think this would happen a little farther along in pregnancy, but yup, in the end, you’ll probably have more trouble holding onto your bladder!
Anyway, if you think you are pregnant, you should probably grab a home pregnancy test at the drug store. They only cost about 10 bucks and are pretty accurate. If symptoms persist, certainly go see a doctor to check it out. The sooner you know, the sooner you can plan for your pregnancy.
If you cannot afford a doctor, look for a local county clinic. Don’t be afraid to check with your local medicaid office or state health and human services office.
